@NRGzla

Neighborhood Resource Gardens (NRGs) are community open spaces with urban gardens and neighborhood emergency kits for disaster relief too.

“Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and cheer and give strength to body and soul alike.” - John Muir

2023 NRG Case Study @ El Nido Family Center in Pacoima:

Advancing an existing community hub from "surviving to thriving"

Assess Needs + ID Potential Partnerships - Spring/Summer 2023

  • The El Nido pilot project showcases the NRG process of assessing needs by identifying what a location has, needs and wants.

  • Resources are identified whose missions align with opportunities.

  • Connections are facilitated to invite participation and amplify impact.

The 2010 U.S. census counted 103,689 residents in Pacoima's 91331 ZIP Code. The median age was 29.5, and the median yearly household income at that time was $49,842.

Impact zones of each site extend well beyond individual locations to serve entire neighborhoods. Fostering community and personal connections offer opportunities for more individual empathy and empowerment, increasing neighborhood bonds and safety.
